11/11, the opening of the carnival season in Oeteldonk

Start 11/11 with an Oeteldonk breakfast

On Wednesday 11 November the day starts early at our place, at 9:11 a.m. That is when the 11/11 Breakfast is ready for you in De Hoofdwacht at Hotel Central. An extensive breakfast buffet, a solid base for the day ahead and the question hanging over Oeteldonk: who will be the new Peer?

CV De Piccolo provides the music and gets you in the mood for 11/11. Extra festive, because they are celebrating their 105th anniversary this year. You can join us until 10:33 a.m., after which it is a short walk to the Markt.

The breakfast costs € 19.99 per person. Children aged 4 to 12 pay half price and children aged 0 to 3 eat for free. Reserving in advance is required, and we ask for a deposit when you book. Full is full, so reserve in good time.

Start 11/11 with an Oeteldonk breakfast at Hotel Central

In the morning, start with a proper Bossche worstenbroodje

A day of celebrating in Oeteldonk traditionally starts with a worstenbroodje, the local sausage roll. Bakkerij Royal on the Visstraat is a firm favourite and is close to the hotel. If you prefer vegan, KeiLekker is worth a try, although it is a bit further away, behind the station. Arriving by train? Then it makes a great stop on your way to the hotel.

Eetbar de Stadt is another good address for a worstenbroodje. They often announce special offers only shortly beforehand on Instagram, so it is worth a quick look before you head over.

From Eetbar de Stadt it is a short walk to the Parade, where you can join the countdown to 11:11 and watch the opening of the carnival season live.

During the day, the city turns red, white and yellow

After the official countdown, the party spreads across the whole city. On the Markt and in the Uilenburg there are stalls with tasty snacks all day long.

On the Markt, De Opkikker is a popular spot among the real Oeteldonkers. If you are after a younger, trendier sound, Jeronimus is a good alternative. And at Brasserie Cé you can of course always enjoy a calmer start to this action-packed day.

In the evening, off to the pubs

As soon as it gets chillier outside, Oeteldonk moves indoors. In the Uilenburg you will find 't Veulen, an authentic brown café where the real Oeteldonk carnival hits play, and Hello My Friend, with a slightly hipper sound.

On the Markt, a few minutes' walk from your room, you will find Raadskelder, one of the regular favourites during carnival in Den Bosch.

Prefer a quiet moment? Our brasserie is open to you all day

Not every 11/11 has to be one big party from start to finish. Our brasserie is open to everyone all day, also for a freshly tapped beer with a bitterbal (the classic Dutch deep-fried snack) in between, or to lunch or dine in peace while Oeteldonk breaks loose outside.

No carnival party inside, but cheerful carnival music in the background. That way you get the best of both worlds: the party on the Markt, and a quiet spot to catch your breath whenever you need it.

Roll straight into bed after the party

After a day of polonaises and Oeteldonk hits, there is only one thing better than another drink: going straight to your own bed without travelling far. Book your room at Hotel Central and make 11/11 a complete celebration.

The next morning you have nowhere to be. At Hotel Central an extensive breakfast buffet is waiting for you, on weekdays until 10:00 a.m. Exactly what you need after an evening of carnival. Prefer to stay in bed a little longer? A late check-out is easy to arrange.

Make 11/11 a complete celebration: enjoy it in the city, then roll straight into bed.
